Automotive Industry Takes Top Spot in Konya Exports

Known for its strong agricultural identity, Konya continues to strengthen its position in industrial production, a trend reflected in its export performance. In the first half of 2026, the automotive industry became the city’s largest export sector, leading both in export value and year-on-year growth.


According to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), Konya’s exports rose by 3.37% in the first six months of 2026, increasing from $1.635 billion to $1.691 billion compared with the same period last year.


Industrial products accounted for the majority of the city’s exports, with the automotive industry taking the top spot at $450.4 million, representing approximately 26.6% of total exports. Machinery and components ranked second with exports totaling $385 million.


During the first half of the year, exports of cereals, pulses and related products reached $151.1 million, followed by iron and non-ferrous metals at $113.9 million, the air conditioning industry at $111.2 million, and the chemicals sector at $109 million.


Combined, the automotive and machinery sectors accounted for nearly half of Konya’s total exports, highlighting the dominant role of industrial manufacturing in the city’s export economy.


The automotive industry also recorded the largest increase in exports, rising by $37.6 million compared with the same period last year. The machinery and components sector followed with a year-on-year increase of $21.9 million.
