Karatay Municipality Sets an Example in Recycling

Karatay Municipality has taken another important step with its environmentally friendly and sustainable waste management approach by recycling unusable paving stones, curbs, and concrete waste in the district, and reintegrating them into the economy.

Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca stated that they are making another addition to environmentally friendly production and investing in the future through recycling.

With its sustainable waste management approach, Karatay Municipality contributes to the environment by recycling old and unusable concrete waste and paving curbs instead of disposing of them, benefiting both the environment and the economy.

Reused in Various Applications

Karatay Municipality repurposes old and unusable concrete paving stones, curbs, and concrete waste by crushing them with a mobile crusher instead of sending them to rubble sites, transforming them into filling material. The recycled concrete debris will be crushed according to particle sizes in the coming days and is planned to be used in the Concrete Paving and Curb Facility, Asphalt Production Facility, beneath concrete paving and curbs, under asphalt-paved roads, in areas requiring filling, and for leveling vacant lands.

Significant Contribution to the Municipal Budget

Karatay Municipality has developed technology-supported solutions to make recycling more efficient. Compared to the cost of natural filling materials on the market, this initiative provides a cost advantage ranging from one-third to half of the standard price per ton, making a substantial contribution to the municipal budget.

Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca stated, “As Karatay Municipality, we always seek the best solutions for environmental protection and sustainability,” emphasizing that they are creating a new infrastructure using old paving stones and concrete waste.
