Konya Produces 10,000 Tons of Crystalline Sugar for the Pharmaceutical Industry

The Çumra Sugar Factory in Konya produces 10,000 tons of crystalline sugar annually for use in the pharmaceutical sector.

Established in 2013 on a 2.6 million square meter area, the integrated facility specializes in powdered sugar production and continues to manufacture high-quality crystalline pharmaceutical sugar that meets the strict standards of the pharmaceutical industry.

Sugar beets delivered by local farmers are first weighed on scales and then analyzed in the factory’s laboratories to determine their sucrose content and level of impurities. After collection, the beets are transferred to the production area, where they undergo a series of processes to be refined into crystalline sugar suitable for pharmaceutical use.

Produced under the supervision of expert chemists and technicians, the pharmaceutical sugar is packaged in 20- and 50-kilogram bags.

Ramazan Erkoyuncu, General President of PANKOBİRLİK and Chairman of the Konya Sugar Beet Growers Cooperative, emphasized that the Çumra Sugar Factory is the largest sugar factory in Turkey.
