Konya Strengthens Its Position in Defense Industry Exports

Mustafa Büyükeğen, President of the Konya Chamber of Industry, stated that Konya has become Turkey’s fourth-largest city in defense and aviation industry exports, following Ankara, Istanbul, and Eskişehir. He underlined that the city’s export volume in the sector has grown 6.2 times over the past decade.

Büyükeğen noted that Konya exported 26.7 million dollars in the defense and aerospace industry in 2015, while this figure reached 165.7 million dollars by 2024. He also pointed out that exports amounted to 96.3 million dollars in the first six months of this year alone. In addition, the number of companies from Konya registered as Approved Suppliers by the General Directorate of Military Factories has increased to 51. Emphasizing that these figures are expected to rise further, Büyükeğen said this growth would strengthen Konya’s contribution to Turkey’s national and domestic defense industry goals.

Highlighting ongoing efforts to expand the local defense industry ecosystem, Büyükeğen drew attention to the Konya Defense Industry Supplier Meetings, known as the largest defense industry gathering in Anatolia. He explained that these meetings play a key role in bringing sector stakeholders together and supporting cooperation.
