Konya's Foreign Trade Volume Exceeds $5 Billion

Selçuk Öztürk, the President of the Konya Chamber of Commerce, stated that Konya's foreign trade volume has exceeded 5 billion dollars.



Selçuk Öztürk, the President of the Konya Chamber of Commerce, evaluated the foreign trade data of Konya.



Öztürk emphasized the city's significant contribution to the country's economy not only through agriculture and animal husbandry but also with its potential in the defense industry. He stated that Konya's exports in 2023 increased by 1.84% to reach 3 billion 336 million dollars.



Öztürk continued, explaining that Konya is a city that provides a trade surplus to export giant countries. He said:


"Konya, exporting to 199 countries and regions, ranks 7th among cities with the highest variety of countries. In terms of product diversity among cities, it ranks 10th with 96 different products. Last year, our number of exporters increased by 2.05% compared to the previous year, reaching 3,483. Although we rank 6th in terms of the number of exporting firms, we are 10th in terms of the actual export volume."



In the first quarter, exports reached 851.3 million dollars.



Öztürk stated, "While Turkey's exports in March decreased by 4.1% compared to the same month of the previous year, Konya's exports increased by 0.1% to reach 309.75 million dollars. Our exports in the first quarter of 2024 also reached 851.3 million dollars with a 6.6% increase. The automotive industry in Konya became the sector with the highest exports, reaching 80 million dollars with a 15% increase in exports in March."
