E-commerce and e-export stakeholders came together at the E-Commerce and E-Export Conference organized by the Electronic Commerce Operators Association (ETID) in Konya.
Selçuk Öztürk, Vice President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, stated at the opening of the global, hybrid, and artificial intelligence-supported conference held at a hotel in the city that Konya is an important city, especially in defense industry exports.
Öztürk noted that e-commerce's share in retail has reached
22% in the country, saying, “This is a fantastic rate. 800 billion Liras, with a
22% share from retail. The share of e-commerce in Turkey will rapidly move
towards 50%. When we look at the world, it's 5.5 trillion dollars. A huge
figure. It's also growing rapidly. Estimates suggest it will reach 7 trillion
dollars by the end of 2023. These are very important markets. It is necessary
to be present in these markets in different ways. I believe that the e-commerce
and e-export market will grow much more in Turkey.”
Öztürk stated that Konya ranks 6th nationwide in e-commerce
and emphasized that it is a strong export city.
