Support from Metro for Small Businesses

“My Small Business” project, enlarged with business partners, was started to support small businesses in refreshments sector which have been negatively affected by pandemic in Turkey. Within the scope of the project, some products and services delivered to 51 businesses including pastry shops, kebab shops, burrito shops, and meat pasty shops in Konya and nearby cities. 

All the deliveries are completed in “My Small Business” project which was started to support small businesses in refreshments sector which have been negatively affected by pandemic in Turkey on the 29th April by Metro. In Turkey, approximately 4 thousand 500 businesses applied for the project and 1 thousand 500 businesses, which were able to meet application requirements, have been getting products and services support. In Konya and nearby cities 51 businesses benefited from the project received products and services support valuing 5 thousand TL for each business. By this way, it has been possible to support businesses which serve local food such as Mevlana pie and okra soup, and the project has contributed to local economies.   
Serkan Dalgıç, the store manager of Metro Turkey Konya, stated that “we have started “my small business” project with our business partners in this period in which we, as Metro, once more understand that how it is important to be in a unity in Turkey. With this project, we aimed to create awareness among public opinion about the hard situation that the small businesses in refreshments sector are in. We have also brought together the businesses in need with the institutions ready to help in one platform. By this way, opportunities were created for 10 thousand sector workmen to help them continue their businesses in Turkey and 3 billion cost local economies were supported. For 51 businesses in Konya and nearby cities, an important assistance was provided. Also, it has contributed to preserve and sustain local food such as Etliekmek, Mevlana pie and okra soup. Everyone can visit and support small businesses in their neighbourhood in this difficult period. The individual contribution, which may seem small, makes a big contribution to the local economy.”
