Located in the Obruk neighborhood of Karatay, Konya, Obruk Cemetery stands as one of the region’s oldest burial grounds and an important part of Anatolia’s historical heritage. The cemetery is situated directly across from the historic Obruk Caravanserai, which dates back nearly 800 years to the Seljuk period.
Believed to have been established during the same era, the cemetery contains numerous historic gravestones reflecting the cultural and artistic traditions of the time. The site offers valuable insight into the Turkish-Islamic heritage of Anatolia and preserves traces of centuries-old history.
Today, Obruk Cemetery is regarded as an open-air heritage site and remains under preservation efforts carried out by Karatay Municipality. With its historical atmosphere and unique location beside the caravanserai, the cemetery continues to attract attention as one of Konya’s remarkable cultural landmarks.
