A 122 Meter Long Bridge Will Be Built on the Street That Will Relieve Konya Traffic

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay examined the bridge work that will connect the first stage of Abdülhamid Han Street, which has a length of 14,5 kilometers, to the second stage, which will connect Beyşehir Ring Road and Beyhekim Street.

Stating that they are making a very intense effort to develop Konya in every aspect, Mayor Altay emphasized that one of their important priorities is Konya's traffic. Stating that they are carrying out serious studies to solve the traffic problem, Mayor Altay said, "We are currently in the area where the first and second stages of Abdülhamit Han Street intersect. We had already completed the first stage and opened it to service. The second stage is actually completed. We are building a bridge that will connect the two. With this bridge, which we have built with a length of 122 meters, we will have realized the connection of the first stage and the second stage. In addition, the problem of discharging water in the Keçili Canal without any flood risk will be solved here. Thus, starting from Beyhekim Street to Sille Road, we will provide an uninterrupted transportation service. In the third stage, we plan to complete our work in an area from Sille Road to Meram Medical Faculty by the end of this year. Thus, we will have Meram Medical Faculty Hospital and Beyhekim Hospital, Selçuklu Medical Faculty and stadium. In this way, we gain an important main artery between Meram and Selçuklu."

Noting that Abdülhamit Han Street, with a total length of 14,5 kilometers, will have an important place in urban traffic, Mayor Altay said, “We are planning to reduce the traffic density, especially on Beyşehir Road and Istanbul Road. Hopefully, by the end of the year, this street will be opened and put into service. However, we continue our efforts to open a new street in Konya without interruption. I would like to thank our contractor, engineer and worker who contributed. We aim to provide our citizens with a faster and more comfortable transportation while going from one place to another. In addition, Abdülhamithan Avenue will be one of the most prestigious and longest new streets in Konya with its three lanes of departure, three lanes of arrival and median. Good luck to our city." he said.
