The "International Environmental Science and Engineering Research Symposium" was held in collaboration with Necmettin Erbakan University (NEU) and included Konya Technical University, Terengganu University in Malaysia, Barletti University, the University of Maryland, Elbasani University, Meram Municipality, and NEU Publishing House.
The symposium began with an opening ceremony held at the NEU Köyceğiz Campus Engineering Faculty Conference Hall. In his opening remarks, the symposium coordinator, Prof. Dr. Şükrü Dursun, who is a faculty member at Konya Technical University, stated that there were a total of 7 poster presentations, 57 oral presentations from 9 different countries, and nearly 70 presentations in total during the event.
NEU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Kahraman emphasized the importance of working to leave a livable world for future generations. He pointed out that in President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's 2053 Vision Document, one of the five main headings is "Sustainable Development," which is fundamentally linked to addressing climate change. Prof. Dr. Ali Kahraman also highlighted the valuable work being done in Konya, which can serve as an example to other provinces. He thanked everyone involved in the congress and expressed his hope that the symposium would make significant contributions to the world of science.
Following the speeches, plaques of appreciation and flowers were presented to the symposium stakeholders. The program continued with in-person and online sessions after the opening ceremony.
In the closing meeting of the symposium, the evaluation concluded that "The National Environmental Science and Engineering Research Symposium hosted by Necmettin Erbakan University has contributed to the international promotion of both Necmettin Erbakan University and the work carried out in the field of environment and engineering in our country. The event included discussions on actions that can be taken for a greener world. Additionally, through the posters and oral presentations by national and international participants, a wide range of topics were covered, questions were answered, and ideas were shared. Furthermore, considering its location, historical, and cultural significance, this event held in Konya has also become an important cultural and social exchange."
