Altay Highlights KONYARAY’s Impact on City Traffic

The work on the KONYARAY Suburban Line, which will be introduced to the city by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and Konya Metropolitan Municipality, is progressing rapidly.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, speaking on the matter, stated that they are carrying out significant efforts to minimize traffic congestion in the city center. In this context, he mentioned that they are working hard to introduce new streets, overpasses, and new tram lines to the city.

Mayor Altay stated, “Significant progress has been made on the first phase of the suburban line, which is crucial for the city's public transportation, especially for the organized industrial zone. This phase covers the 17.4-kilometer section between Konya Train Station and the Logistics Center. Currently, work on the Demiryolu Street section in the city center is proceeding as planned. Meanwhile, KOSKI teams are continuing infrastructure work. With KONYARAY, which aims to reduce traffic congestion by connecting different parts of the city, we also aim to shorten travel times within the city and make daily life easier for our citizens. The introduction of this line will mark a significant milestone in urban transportation in Konya. I extend my gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdülkadir Uraloğlu, and the General Directorate of TCDD for making this important investment a reality for our city.”
