Classic Car Enthusiasm Turns into Impressive Collection
Konya-based businessperson Muammer Deveci, who is a
passionate classic car enthusiast, has turned his workplace into what can be
described as a classic car exhibition. Deveci, who owns 11 classic cars, has
kept all of them in working condition, and they appear just as they did on the day, they rolled off the factory floor.
Muammer Deveci, a 64-year-old businessman who is also the
President of the Konya Classic Car Association, keeps his collection of 11
classic cars, as well as some of his friends' classic cars, in the storage area
of his factory. The warehouse, filled with vibrant and colorful classic cars,
resembles a classic car exhibition.
Deveci, who has had a passion for classic cars since a young
age, has primarily built his collection from American cars manufactured between
1950 and 1970. Among these, some are unique in Turkey, while others are notable
for being produced in limited quantities by companies in the past.
Deveci emphasized that all of the cars are in working
condition, stating that he can hop into any car he desires and drive to
Istanbul without any issues. Deveci mentioned that his fascination with classic
cars is primarily rooted in his admiration for the craftsmanship and imagination
of the designers who created these vehicles during their respective eras.
Deveci provided more information about his collection,
stating, "Our collection primarily consists of American vehicles. Along
with my friends' cars, we have around 20 classic cars here, 11 of which belong
to me. The collection mainly features cars from the 1950s to the 1970s. That
era was particularly dominant in America's automotive world, producing cars
with unique design features. Nowadays, car designs have become more
standardized, and almost all cars look alike. Each classic car has its own
distinct design, and back then, there was no internet; it was solely the
imagination of the individuals who designed these cars. We value the dreams of
the car designers."
In Muammer Deveci's collection, there are various classic
cars, including the Mustang Grande, Cadillac Eldorado Seville, Chevrolet Impala
Sport Coupe, and Chrysler Newport Custom.
