Special individuals studying at the Down Syndrome Life Support Center engaged with traditional cultural games as part of the three-day project “+1 From Tradition to the Future.”
The Down Syndrome Life Support Center (DOSD Meram), operating under the leadership of Meram Municipality, hosted another significant project that positively impacted the lives of individuals with special needs.
The “+1 From Tradition to the Future” project supported the social, emotional, and cognitive development of individuals with Down syndrome, while also fostering empathy, volunteerism, and awareness among university student volunteers.
On the second day of the event, the celebration continued with a game festival. Participants enjoyed traditional games in the workshop, including hopscotch, “I sell oil, I sell honey,” handkerchief snatching, blindfold tag, dodgeball, tug of war, and spinning top painting.
In the cognitive games section, activities such as memory cards, color matching, story completion, and attention-enhancing games were conducted, tailored to the developmental levels of the participants.
Participants were presented with “+1 Winning Smile” medals, certificates of appreciation, and small gifts. The project concluded on the third day with a cultural tour of Konya, giving participants the opportunity to experience the city’s historical and cultural treasures firsthand.
