Konya's Karatay District Municipality Karatay City Council
Zero Waste Working Group collected waste and garbage thrown by people who are
insensitive to the environment and nature around Altınapa Dam at the World
Cleaning Day event attended by Estonia-based 'Let's Do It Turkey'.
The event, which was held with the support of Estonya-based
non-governmental organization 'Let's Do It Turkey', was attended by Karatay
City Council Zero Waste Working Group members and volunteers, as well as
managers, volunteers and citizens of "Let's Do It Turkey".
PRODUCTS FROM WASTE WILL BE EXHIBITED
At the end of the day-long event, the wastes, most of which
consist of household wastes, will be turned into advanced recycling materials
and the resulting products will be exhibited. On the other hand, wastes that
cannot be converted into any works will be included in the recycling process.
Dilara Erel, Coordinator of Karatay City Council Zero Waste
Working Group, said, "We collected waste and garbage around Altınapa
within the framework of our Zero Waste activities. We plan to make 3D models
from these collected wastes within the framework of upcycling. I would like to
thank our Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca and Let's Do It Turkey for supporting us in
our work."
Hatice Kübra Sarı, one of the representatives of Let's Do It
Turkey, stated that they are very happy to take part in such a project together
with Karatay City Council. Kübra Sarı said, "Together with 100 volunteers,
we collect garbage and waste around Altınapa Dam. Our goal is to draw attention
to the issue of zero waste with garbage blindness and to support a sustainable
environment. We think that our resources are limitless, but unfortunately this is
not the case. We wanted to draw attention to this as well. I would like to
thank everyone who supported me."
