Konya Chamber of Industry President Büyükeğen, speaking at
the "Green Transformation and Sustainability Summit" organized by the
Konya Chamber of Industry, stated that Konya will be among the leading cities
in green transformation as well.
The "Green Transformation and Sustainability
Summit" was organized by the Konya Chamber of Industry (KSO). KSO
President Mustafa Büyükeğen highlighted that Konya is among the leading cities
that lead the Turkish industry and emphasized that they will also be among the
pioneering cities in green transformation.
The summit, held at the KSO Conference Hall with the
participation of industrialists and workplace representatives, discussed topics
such as the European Green Deal, the impact of the green transformation process
on the industry, and carbon neutrality. The summit also featured presentations
on the efforts of the Konya Chamber of Industry regarding the green
transformation process, and expert panelists from outside the province provided
information on the path Konya's industrialists should follow.
Büyükeğen stated, "Europe aims to achieve carbon
neutrality by 2050 through the European Green Deal. The issue that is of vital
importance to our industrialists is to reduce carbon emissions in their
businesses, and if possible, make them carbon neutral, in order to avoid heavy
tax burdens. This issue is crucial for both Konya's industry and the Turkish
industry as a whole because the European Union is one of Konya's most
significant trading partners. Last year, we conducted approximately 30% of our
total exports, which exceeded 3.2 billion dollars, to EU countries. Therefore,
preparing our businesses for this process is extremely valuable for all of us
to ensure that our exports and trade continue uninterrupted."
