The only endemic species belonging to the province of Konya
in the world, the Karaüşmen plant (Saponaria Karapinarensis), continues to
maintain its value.
According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture
and Forestry's website, the Karaüşmen plant (Saponaria Karapinarensis) is a
point endemic species found in Konya province, Turkey. Karaüşmen (Saponaria
Karapinarensis) is distributed on the debris of volcanic mounds.
The Karaüşmen (Saponaria Karapinarensis) Species Action Plan
covers a period of five years, encompassing planned activities between 2020 and
2024.
Saponaria Karapinarensis, with its perennial life cycle,
starts flowering at the beginning of June and enters the fruiting period by the
end of July.
Field visits will be conducted during the vegetation periods
to monitor the species. Additionally, awareness-raising training sessions will
be held in schools when the educational programs begin.
Furthermore, meetings will be held with local communities,
law enforcement agencies, and other interested groups, during which promotional
materials about the species will also be distributed.
