Karatay University Trains Skilled Pilots for Türkiye’s Aviation Sector

The Department of Pilotage, established in 2019 within the School of Applied Sciences at Karatay University, plays a significant role in advancing the aviation sector in Türkiye.

With its own airfield, fleet, technical maintenance infrastructure, and experienced flight instructors, the department trains qualified pilots to meet the country’s growing demand for aviation professionals.

Offering education in line with international standards, the department provides pilot candidates with the essential infrastructure for a comprehensive learning experience through its modern and state-of-the-art facilities.

The department features a 1,200-meter grass runway, a 1,500-meter asphalt runway, a 1,500-meter taxiway, an aircraft maintenance hangar, a civil hangar, an air traffic control tower, 12 training aircraft, and 3 gliders, totaling 15 aircraft in its fleet.

During the intensive four-year training program, students complete 200 hours of flight training. As the only pilotage department in Türkiye offering glider training, the KTO Karatay University Department of Pilotage also grants its graduates a glider license, equipping them with comprehensive skills for the aviation industry.
