Konya Book Days Launches with Enthusiasm

The 11th Konya Book Days, organized this year by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality, has begun with great enthusiasm.

Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay emphasized that Konya, which has hosted ancient civilizations for centuries, is one of Turkey's important cities that stands out not only for its identity as a center of industry, agriculture, and sports but also for its artistic and cultural dimensions.

Highlighting that the "Konya Book Days," which greatly contributes to the cultural life of Konya and brings together hundreds of thousands of book lovers every year, has opened its doors for the 11th time this year, Mayor Altay stated, "We see the Book Days as more than just an event filled with books; it is an important organization that strengthens Konya's cultural memory and promotes reading habits. For nine days, we will host hundreds of thousands of books, valuable authors, and significant figures from the literary world at the Selçuklu Congress Center."

Stating that one of his greatest responsibilities is to encourage reading, especially among young people and children, Mayor Altay said, "This year's theme for the Konya Book Days will be 'Palestine, Jerusalem, and Gaza' due to the humanitarian drama and genocide occurring in Palestine. Our motto is 'Read for Freedom.' I invite all book lovers, aged 7 to 70, from Konya and surrounding provinces, as well as from all over Turkey, to the Konya Book Days, which will continue until October 27."
