Konya Marks Atatürk Remembrance Day with Solemn Ceremony

Today in Konya, city officials, students, teachers and citizens gathered to honor the memory of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on the anniversary of his passing.

At 08:50 AM, the wreath‐laying ceremony began at the Atatürk Monument, attended by İbrahim Akın (Governor of Konya), the local garrison commander and the mayor of the metropolitan municipality.  

At exactly 09:05 AM a city‐wide siren rang for two minutes, during which participants observed a moment of silence and the National Anthem was performed.  

Following the outdoor ceremony, an indoor program was held at the Konya State Theatre. Students and teachers presented readings, poems and musical performances to reflect on Atatürk’s legacy, and awards were given to pupils who excelled in competitions on the theme of remembrance.
