Konya Metropolitan Municipality is making a significant contribution to the efforts to restore normal life in Hatay following the earthquake.

Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that they have been carrying out search and rescue operations in Hatay immediately after the earthquake that occurred on the morning of February 6, as well as infrastructure, logistics, mobile kitchens, communication, energy supply, container city, and mobile health vehicle operations. Mayor Altay emphasized that they started intensive work from the first day of the earthquake to solve Hatay's water problem and said that their goal is to contribute to the quick healing of wounds and the return of the city to normalcy as soon as possible.

Mayor Altay stated that during the one-month period after the earthquake, regarding the works carried out by the KOSKİ General Directorate in the region, "A total of 310 KOSKİ personnel were sent to the region with certain rotation periods from the first day of the earthquake. Our first teams to work under KOSKİ were sent to Hatay on the day of the earthquake, February 6. On the same day, 6 generators were installed to meet the energy needs in the areas where search and rescue teams and citizens were intensively present. On the night of February 6, a light tower capable of illuminating about 1 square kilometer was also transported to Hatay. On February 7, 2 cranes, 2 acoustic listening vehicles, 2 tracked excavators, and 9,000 cases of drinking water were sent to the region to assist in search and rescue operations."

Mayor Altay stated that they have completed the repairs of the main carrier network in Hatay and have started to work on local malfunctions and daily reports. He also mentioned that they have started to provide water from two different filling stations to the tankers of their municipality, other public institutions, and citizens in Serinyol, which is one of the city's significant water sources, after putting the second well into service. The infrastructure works in Serinyol, Samandağ, and İskenderun have largely been completed, and they have solved many infrastructure problems, including maintenance and repair operations of main pipes and valves in these districts. The city now receives water, but they continue to repair the network in Antakya and Defne districts as various malfunctions have occurred in the pipeline.
