Konya Municipality Supports Youth with Innovative Projects
The Konya Metropolitan Municipality is carrying out numerous projects aimed at university students.
Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that they are implementing various projects to support young people in utilizing their potential to the fullest and provide opportunities for their personal development.
INNOVATIVE AND APPLICABLE SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS WITH SIA
Mayor Altay stated that through projects such as the Capsule Technology Platform, Social Innovation Agency (SIA), Youth Culture Card, Youth Assembly, Working Youth Assembly, and Career Support and Training Center, they are preparing young people for the future in the strongest way. He said, “The Social Innovation Agency (SIA), established in collaboration with Necmettin Erbakan University, strives to develop innovative and applicable solutions to social problems. Our Social Innovation Agency supported the competencies of our youth by organizing 134 events in 2024, reaching 13,608 participants. Additionally, it published 5 reports and 3 books in the field of social innovation, prepared a 33-episode podcast series, and developed socially beneficial projects through platforms like Saksı, Konint, and the City Observatory. Seven national/international projects were carried out, and a field study was conducted with 8,339 participants.”
SUPPORTING THE NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY MOVEMENT WITH CAPSULE
Mayor Altay pointed out that various efforts have been made for young people within the Capsule Technology Platform, established by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality, in support of the National Technology Movement. He said, "In 2024, we reached 8,930 students through 43 trainings and 26 discussions at our Capsule Technology Platform. We formed 256 teams for national competitions, 44 of which reached the finals, and 27 won awards. With BISTLAB events, we reached 1,566 participants. We will continue working to prepare our youth for the future. We hope to build the technologies of tomorrow together with our young people."
SUPPORTING YOUTH WITH THE YOUTH CULTURE CARD
Mayor Altay noted that 40,000 university students benefited from the Youth Culture Card, a socialization program aimed at increasing participation in social, cultural, educational, and sports activities. He mentioned that 191 events were held within this scope, and through the project support program, students who brought projects in 6 categories were provided with in-kind support.
Mayor Altay emphasized that the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Youth Assembly reached over 25,000 university students by organizing 60 events last year. He also mentioned that the Working Youth Assembly reached 15,000 young people through various programs.
