Konya Sets an Example with Zero Waste Investments

In Konya, Mayor Hasan Kılca of Karatay Municipality stated that they have made significant progress in leaving a beautiful Karatay for future generations through the Zero Waste initiatives they have implemented in the district.

Karatay Municipality is among the municipalities that provide the most support for the "Zero Waste" project initiated under the auspices of Emine Erdoğan, the wife of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and meticulously carried out by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change.

Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca evaluated the efforts they have carried out in the field over the past 5 years in Karatay on the occasion of the International Zero Waste Day on March 30th.

Mayor Hasan Kılca, expressing that they launched the "Zero Waste Point" project on World Environment Day on June 5, 2022, to spread the zero waste awareness to a wider segment of society, ensure the recycling of separately collected waste into the economy, and contribute to the protection of nature, stated that an average of 2 tons of waste is collected daily at Waste Collection Centers located in two different points of the district under the said project.

Mayor Kılca emphasized that through the project involving a total of 10,000 citizens, they have rewarded citizens who bring waste with many surprise gifts. Within this framework, he highlighted that more than 6,000 citizens have brought a total of 840,500 kilograms of waste to the center so far.
