Konya Metropolitan Municipality represents Türkiye and leads the cities of the future with projects that contribute to the transportation vision in Europe.
With the support of TÜBİTAK’s Network Membership Program, Konya joined the “Leading Cities” program of EIT Urban Mobility (EIT UM) in 2023 and is continuing this strategic membership in 2024 and 2025.
Thanks to its EIT UM membership, Konya is among the cities across Europe developing sustainable transportation solutions and has the opportunity to showcase its initiatives on an international platform.
Within this scope, the SAFELY Project—carried out under the leadership of the Technical University of Berlin in partnership with Konya Metropolitan Municipality, Parabol Company, and the Ministry of Traffic of Canton Sarajevo—has been selected for support under the EIT UM Targeted Open Call 2025. The project aims to enhance traffic safety for vulnerable road users through smart data analysis.
To promote the project internationally and enhance its visibility, representatives from Konya Metropolitan Municipality took part in two major events. At the UITP SUMMIT 2025 held in Hamburg, Germany, Konya presented the SAFELY Project and the city’s sustainable transportation policies to transportation professionals from around the world. Meetings were also held with EIT Urban Mobility and the Hamburg Municipality.
At these prestigious events, the Konya delegation showcased not only the SAFELY Project but also the city’s innovative initiatives such as its bicycle infrastructure, smart transportation applications, and public transport investments, sharing Konya’s vision with international stakeholders.
