Konya Wins Municipality Award

Konya Metropolitan Municipality won the "Municipality Award" at the 4th International Smart Transportation Systems Summit organized by the Turkey Smart Transportation Systems Association.



Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, President of the World Municipalities Union and Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay, Deputy General Manager of Communication at the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and President of AUS Turkey Esma Dilek, Chief of the Green Development and Inclusive Growth Department First Undersecretary Virve Vimpari, and Deputy Chairman of the Presidency Local Administration Policies Board Prof. Dr. Şükrü Karatepe, along with mayors, attended the 4th International Smart Transportation Systems Summit held at the Ankara Hacettepe University Tunçalp Özgen Congress and Culture Center.



Mayor Altay expressed great happiness for the award, stating that as Konya Metropolitan Municipality, they strive to be pioneers and leaders in every field.



Mayor Altay stated, "In the future, especially until the year 2030, we will undertake very important projects. We announced our Smart City Strategy last March. With 142 projects by 2030, we will make Konya one of Turkey's smartest cities. Today, at the AUS Summit, we received an award from our esteemed minister for smart cities. Both our efforts to increase the accessibility of Konya Metropolitan Municipality's public transportation services and our collaborations with the ministry are being appreciated throughout Turkey."
