Meram Municipality has launched a project to give Rampalı Bazaar, one of Konya’s cultural and artistic hubs, a new look.
Known as the largest secondhand book bazaar in Central Anatolia, Rampalı has held a special place in the hearts of Konya residents for years with its scent of books, cultural conversations, and unique atmosphere.
This unique structure, where the floors are connected by ramps, is among Konya’s symbols with both its architecture and the cultural richness it houses.
Meram Municipality has begun working in cooperation with local shopkeepers to renovate the worn exterior of this valuable structure.
As part of the project, the aesthetics of Rampalı will be redesigned in harmony with Meram Municipality’s Suriçi Bazaar, Konya Metropolitan Municipality’s exterior restoration around Alaaddin, and the Bedesten. In this way, a cohesive historical texture will be achieved in the city center.
Meram Mayor Mustafa Kavuş is personally overseeing the project and its implementation, holding consultations with both the project team and the bazaar’s shopkeepers. As part of this, Mayor Kavuş visited Rampalı Bazaar and exchanged ideas with the shopkeepers.
