Mayor Altay: “We are making a historic beginning for Konya's rail system”

The foundation of the Stadium-City Hospital Tram Line Phase 1, to be constructed by Konya Metropolitan Municipality, was laid in a ceremony.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur Ibrahim Altay expressed the happiness of witnessing a historic moment together, fulfilling another promise, and realizing another dream of Konya.

Mayor Altay stated, "Konya is the first city in Anatolia to use a rail system. In the 1980s, we managed to implement a rail system, which has since expanded to 27 kilometers in length, starting from Selçuk University and extending to the courthouse. Later, with the high-speed train, we entered a new era in rail systems, and today we are all experiencing that comfort together."

Mayor Altay noted that they will implement the section from the Courthouse to the City Hospital with the World Bank and the section from the City Hospital to the New Industrial Zone with their own resources. He expressed that with a total investment of 1.7 billion Turkish Lira, they will bring this rail system line to Konya.
