Nasreddin Hodja Draws Great Interest in Azerbaijan

Konya Metropolitan Municipality promoted Konya and Nasreddin Hodja at the United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference (COP29) hosted in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

As part of COP29, a representative Nasreddin Hodja, portrayed by an actor from the Konya Metropolitan Municipality City Theater, shared stories and anecdotes about Konya and Nasreddin Hodja in English at the Turkish pavilion set up by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change. The performance attracted great curiosity and interest, particularly from visitors from the Turkic world and various countries around the globe.

English brochures about Nasreddin Hodja and Konya were distributed to guests visiting the Turkish pavilion, contributing to the promotion of both Konya and Nasreddin Hodja’s hometown, Akşehir. By showcasing the cultural heritage of Konya and Akşehir through the representative Nasreddin Hodja, attention was drawn to global climate change with the help of humorous anecdotes.

Before the climate panel attended by Uğur İbrahim Altay, President of UCLG, the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), and the Konya Metropolitan Municipality, the representative Nasreddin Hodja performed the English-language act "Mirror of Time." The performance was highly appreciated by the audience. Local and international guests, who watched with great interest, congratulated the representative Nasreddin Hodja and took photos with him.
