New Cultural Collaboration Launched in Konya

New Cultural Collaboration Launched in Konya

Konya Metropolitan Municipality and the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) will cooperate to promote both the tangible and intangible Islamic cultural heritage of Konya more effectively among Islamic countries.

Speaking at the signing ceremony held at the Metropolitan Municipality’s Taş Building, IRCICA Director General Prof. Dr. Mahmut Erol Kılıç reminded that IRCICA, headquartered in Istanbul, operates under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which has 57 member countries, and conducts research in the fields of culture, history, and art.

Emphasizing that Konya has long been a city that nurtures prominent figures and serves as a center of culture and art, Mayor Altay said, “With the recent activities we’ve undertaken in the field of culture and art, as well as our international responsibilities, we are striving to remove the dust that has settled over Konya’s cultural identity and bring its true essence back to light. The agreement we are signing today marks an important beginning in this effort. The building located within Ecdad Park will, from now on, serve as the IRCICA Liaison Office. Today, we are making a significant contribution to Konya’s cultural and artistic life. May God allow us to continue serving the cultural and artistic life of both Konya and the Islamic world more frequently.”

A joint cooperation protocol, prepared to promote the tangible and intangible Islamic cultural heritage of Konya more effectively among Islamic countries, was signed by Mayor Altay and Prof. Dr. Kılıç.
