The newly completed Harmanpınarı Dam in Konya marks a significant step for the region in transitioning to modern agricultural practices.
The project will not only increase agricultural irrigation capacity but also contribute millions of liras annually to the regional economy.
The dam, standing 35 meters tall from its foundation, was built using a clay-core rock-fill type. During the construction process, infrastructure works such as relocation roads, spillway excavations, injection, and upstream embankments were also successfully completed.
The Director-General of DSİ, Mehmet Akif Balta, announced that with the completion of the irrigation facilities following the dam, it will be possible to irrigate a total of 710 decares of agricultural land. Additionally, with modern irrigation methods, farmers in the Bozkır Harmanpınarı Village will have the opportunity to grow a wider variety of crops and increase productivity. This will not only raise farmers' income levels but also allow for the diversification of agricultural activities in the region.
