New Fishing Season Brings Hope to Beyşehir Lake

New Fishing Season Brings Hope to Beyşehir Lake

In Beyşehir Lake, one of Turkey's most important freshwater fish production centers, fishermen have cast their nets for the new season following a three-month fishing ban.

The fishermen, who have started casting their nets in the lake, aim to adorn their stalls with bass, carp, and Chinese carp.

Fisherman Hasan Katmerci said, "In Beyşehir Lake, we catch bass, carp, and Chinese carp. Bass is processed in local factories before being marketed. Carp is also widely consumed in the domestic market. Although fish stocks have decreased due to unregulated fishing and especially electrofishing, recent efforts by relevant institutions have brought us to an encouraging point. We believe that in the coming days, we will experience a more abundant and prosperous fishing season."

Fisherman Ramazan Çelik expressed his satisfaction with the catch, saying, "The first day was good and fruitful for us. We made a hopeful start to the season. Hopefully, this situation will continue in the coming days."
