Turkey's city of Konya, which has the longest bicycle path
network of 595 kilometers and the highest number of bicycle users, has
increased the number of bicycle repair stations to 40.
The repair stations established by the Metropolitan
Municipality in the bike-friendly city of Konya provide great convenience to
bicycle users for repairing their bicycles.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur Ibrahim Altay
stated that they have carried out many efforts to promote bicycle use in Konya,
which has the longest bicycle path network of 595 kilometers and the highest
number of bicycle users in Turkey. He also mentioned that the bicycle repair
stations installed in various locations are one of these efforts.
Mayor Altay stated that they had maintained the existing
bicycle repair stations located in the city center and increased the number of
repair stations to 40 by adding new ones. He said, "Our repair stations
consist of repair kits and air pumps that allow bicycle users to intervene in
possible malfunctions during their rides. In addition, these stations also have
tools for repairing the vehicles and strollers of our disabled citizens."
Mayor Altay mentioned that the locations where the bicycle
repair stations were installed were determined based on the data from the
Bicycle Master Plan, which was implemented for the first time in Turkey in
collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate
Change. He also said, "Upon the demand from our citizens, we placed these
repair kits inside the Bicycle Tram, which is an example for Turkey. Thus,
those who use the Bicycle Tram can have the opportunity to maintain their
bicycles during their travels."
Bicycle users can see the locations of the bicycle repair
stations on the Smart Bicycle Transportation System (ABUS), which is included
in the Konya Smart Transportation Assistant mobile application.
