Revolutionary Tents from Konya: Fireproof and Waterproof

Revolutionary Tents from Konya: Fireproof and Waterproof

A Konya-based academician has developed a fireproof, heat and cold resistant tent using felt made from goat and sheep wool.

Associate Professor Dr. Esad Sami Polat, who has been conducting research on sheep wool and goat hair for approximately 20 years, is experiencing the joy of creating an easy-to-install ergonomic tent.

In the project aimed at quickly addressing the need for shelter in the aftermath of disasters such as earthquakes, fires, and floods, the tent produced using natural methods will stand out with its waterproof, fire-resistant, and heat- and cold-resistant features. The goal is to provide comfortable shelter in a short amount of time.

Polat, expressing that he is conducting new projects for the benefit of humanity using materials that do not harm humanity, stated, "We have been working to further develop the geodesic roof model. In this field, we have three tent models that we have designed ourselves. One is made from goat hair, one from sheep wool, and the other is a blend of sheep wool and goat hair. All of these designs are our own. We are producing tents that have almost infinite durability. Our entire material is natural. In our project, we utilize wood from recycling, as well as goat hair and sheep wool."
