The City of Bicycles

Konya boasts a remarkably comprehensive cycling infrastructure network exceeding 550 kilometers. Due to its geographical structure, Konya is the city where most bicycles are used in Turkey. 

Mayor Altay stated that “We have implemented exemplary projects for Turkey to increase the use of bicycles in Konya. With 550 kilometers of bicycle lanes, we are well ahead in this regard in Turkey. With the new planning, we are building 87 kilometers of new bike paths. Turkey’s first bicycle tram, which we launched last year, attracts great attention. Lastly, we have built two-storey bike parks. With the two-storey bicycle parks we have built in closed car parks and in busy areas of the city, residents of Konya can safely park more bicycles in the same place without paying a fee.”

In Konya, bicycle repair stations, bicycle bridges, bicycle traffic lights, bicycle waiting stations, Intelligent Cycling Transportation System (ABUS), buses with bicycle transport apparatuses attract attention.
