The Rosary Enthusiasts' Café in Konya serves as a gathering
place for rosary collectors, offering an opportunity to trade with prayer bead
collectors in Turkey.
The Rosary Enthusiasts' Café, which opened three years ago
in Konya's Historical Bedesten Bazaar, has become a popular destination for
bead enthusiasts. The café brings together local bead collectors in Konya and
provides them with an opportunity to trade not only among themselves but also
with bead collectors throughout Turkey.
The café houses a vast collection of numerous prayer beads,
ranging in sizes from small to large. In addition to the prayer beads, the café
also showcases dozens of antique clocks from earlier periods, rings crafted
from various gemstones, and numerous historical artifacts. Some of the
collectors who set up stalls in the café take care of the maintenance and
preparation of the antique prayer beads they acquire, getting them ready for
sale.
Veysel Kahrani, who has been involved in the prayer bead
business in Konya for 33 years, stated, "Since 1990, I have been engaged
in the antique business, dealing with prayer beads, rings, clocks, and tags. I
travel to Istanbul every week. I sell Ottoman prayer beads. With the
encouragement of all of us, this café was opened. It is now one of the most
famous cafés in Turkey. It is a place where honest trade takes place. We have
customers coming from Ankara, Istanbul, Adana, Bursa, and various other places.
Every week, traders from different cities come, and we engage in transactions
with them. We buy from them, and they buy from us."
