The wild horses living in the crater of Karadağ, a dormant
volcano in Karaman, are being followed in their struggle to survive in the
wild.
The wild horses, with their diverse colors, have made the
150-meter diameter crater pit and the surrounding hills their habitat on
Karadağ, which is located at an altitude of 2,271 meters between the Hotamış
marsh and the plains of Karaman and Çumra. They are drawing attention due to
their distinct colors.
The horses were observed heading to the water cistern on the
mountain to drink water during the morning hours.
The headman of Uçkuyu village, Tuncer Çınar, stated that
there was a time when the number of horses was high on the slopes of Karadağ.
Çınar mentioned that they frequently observe the horses
because they use the mountain's peaks and crater pit as a pasture. He also
expressed that they closely monitor their struggle for survival and take care
of them.
