Konya Büyükşehir Belediyespor national athlete Cuma Özcan won a bronze medal at the 79th Balkan Athletics Championships, held in Volos, Greece, on June 20–21.
Competing for the Turkish national team, Özcan finished third in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:41.25, earning a place on the podium. Delivering a strong performance against tough competition, he proudly represented both Türkiye and Konya.
The national athlete achieved another notable success on the international stage with his bronze medal, bringing great pride to the Konya Büyükşehir Belediyespor community.
Türkiye competed in the championships with a team of 51 athletes and concluded the event with a total of 28 medals, including 13 gold, 10 silver, and five bronze. Recording its second-best performance in the history of the Balkan Athletics Championships, the national team also claimed the overall team title after setting three championship records.
