The Down Syndrome Futsal National Team completed the second phase of its preparations for the upcoming World Cup with a 13-day training camp hosted by Konya Metropolitan Municipality.
Konya continues to serve as one of the national team’s preferred preparation centers ahead of major international competitions. The team, which boasts an impressive record including a European Championship title, a World Championship bronze medal, and a Paralympic silver medal, once again chose the city as part of its preparations for a major tournament.
As part of its build-up to the World Cup, scheduled to take place in Texas, United States, from July 25 to August 2, the national team conducted the second stage of its training program in Konya. Benefiting from the city’s modern sports facilities and strong sporting infrastructure, the team followed a comprehensive preparation schedule ahead of the tournament.
Speaking about the camp, Down Syndrome Futsal National Team Head Coach İbrahim Acar said they were delighted to be in Konya, a city known for its hospitality. He noted that Konya Metropolitan Municipality has hosted the team for the past seven years and thanked Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay for his continued support.
“Konya is a very important city for us. The municipality has always opened its doors to our team, and we are grateful for the support we receive here,” Acar said.
National team players Resul Orakçı and Oğulcan Öztürk also expressed their satisfaction with the training camp in Konya. Stating that their goal is to win the championship, the players said they are determined not to return from the United States without bringing home the trophy.
