Konya Advances Its Cycling Vision for 2026

Konya is continuing to implement cycling-focused projects and event planning in line with its 2026 European Cycling Capital title. 

Designated as the 2026 European Cycling Capital by the European Capitals and Cities of Sport Federation, the city is carrying out comprehensive preparations ranging from infrastructure improvements to an expanded calendar of activities.

Strengthening the citywide cycling lane network, upgrading existing routes, and promoting bicycle use remain among the top priorities. Educational and awareness programs aimed at encouraging children and young people to adopt cycling at an early age are also part of the ongoing efforts.

Konya’s cycling culture extends beyond competitive sport. Expanding daily bicycle use and supporting a sustainable transportation model form the foundation of the city’s 2026 vision. With its strong infrastructure and organizational experience, Konya continues to position itself as a prominent cycling hub on the European stage.
