Konya Metropolitan Municipality Cycling Team drew praise from cycling authorities for its performance at the 61st Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Cycling Team, one of four continental teams representing Turkey, competed in the eight-stage race, which began with the Çeşme–Aydın stage on April 26 and concluded in Ankara on May 3. The team rode with seven cyclists: Ramazan Yılmaz, Burak Abay, Mustafa Tarakçı, Ahmet Can Akpınar, Ali İhsan Eğin, Muhammed Erkan, and Mehmet Emin Çiçek.
The yellow-and-black riders, who had already drawn attention with their strong performances in national and international races held in Antalya and Mersin during the season, also earned applause at one of the world’s most prestigious events, the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey, where 3 WorldTeams, 14 professional teams, and 6 Continental teams competed, thanks to their fighting spirit, team discipline, and high pace.
During the eight-stage race, Ramazan Yılmaz and Mustafa Tarakçı each secured fourth place in the general classification at different stages.
Mustafa Tarakçı, a young Konya Metropolitan Municipality Cycling Team rider who shows great promise for the future of Turkish cycling, successfully completed the 61st Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey as the winner of the White Jersey, sponsored by TGA–GoTürkiye, after competing against strong rivals.
Konya, the European Cycling Capital, is not only a city that hosts major events; with the athletes it develops, the strong structure it has built, and its rising performance on the international stage, it is steadily advancing toward becoming one of the leading centers of cycling.
