Konya’s Rising Basketball Talent Secures Key Victories

The basketball youth teams of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club continue to achieve successes in local leagues and regional championships, making the city proud.

Uğur İbrahim Altay, Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, stated that the teams competing in the U14, U16, and U18 categories have once again demonstrated the club’s strong youth development system by securing Konya championships and earning the right to participate in higher-level competitions.

Emphasizing that the achievements of young athletes are the clearest indication of the importance Konya places on sports, Uğur İbrahim Altay said, “Our U14 team became Konya champions by winning 20 of the 21 matches they played in local leagues. Our representative, who also successfully completed the Regional Championship held in Kayseri, advanced from their group and earned the right to represent Konya at the Anatolian Championship to be held in Mersin next month.”

Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that the determination, discipline, and team spirit displayed by the U16 and U18 teams also made them very proud, saying:

“Our U16 team became undefeated Konya champions by winning all 22 matches they played in local leagues. With this result, our team earned the right to represent our city at the Regional Championship to be held in Adana next month, marking another significant achievement.

Meanwhile, our U18 team secured an undefeated championship by winning all 13 matches they played in local leagues. After successfully completing the Regional Championship held in Niğde, our team will compete in the Anatolian Championship to be held in Sakarya next month.”

Uğur İbrahim Altay said, “We are proud of the achievements of our young players in our basketball youth teams. Their success clearly demonstrates the strength of Konya’s vision for sports.
