Konya Metropolitan Municipality continues to strengthen its infrastructure in line with its goal of providing uninterrupted service in an increasingly digital world.
Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that KOSKİ General Directorate has advanced beyond the traditional data center model and, as a first among local administrations, adopted a Mobile Data Center System to be prepared for all kinds of emergencies, especially disasters.
Mayor Altay noted that, drawing on the experience gained after the February 6 earthquakes, KOSKİ accelerated the development of the system, which now ensures continuity in critical infrastructure. He added that the center enables water management systems to remain operational, especially during crises, allowing citizens' basic needs to be met.
Mayor Altay also highlighted that the Ali Kuşçu Data Center is capable of operating independently of location. “Designed within a container, the Ali Kuşçu Mobile Data Center includes all components such as servers, network, internet infrastructure, power systems, climate control systems, and a workspace for technical staff. It can be relocated to any desired location when needed,” he said.
Mayor Altay stated, “The data centers at two different locations are connected with a redundant communication infrastructure, allowing both servers and network devices to operate simultaneously at both sites. In the event of any physical or technical issue, the system automatically switches to the other data center. This structure provides 99.9% accessibility to KOSKİ’s systems. With this investment, our KOSKİ General Directorate is not only securing its current systems but also aiming to be prepared for potential future disasters or extraordinary situations. This investment, made to ensure uninterrupted access to essential services for citizens, serves as a significant example of enhancing the digital resilience of cities,” he concluded.
