Konya, where exemplary projects have been implemented in many fields in Turkey, will also take the lead in technology. Electric vehicles under the Spark brand, which will be provided by Konya Electric Vehicles Inc., will soon be hitting the streets.
Konya is rolling up its sleeves to reduce carbon emissions and is making significant strides in this regard. First, under the leadership of MÜSİAD Konya Branch, the Carbon Certification and Project Development Company was established in Konya. Subsequently, the foundations of Konya Electric Vehicles Inc. were laid. As the first step for this company, a license from EPDK (Energy Market Regulatory Authority) was obtained to install charging stations for electric vehicles.
The company, which has installed charging stations at 50 different locations in the city, is now set to launch a groundbreaking project in Turkey. Minute-by-minute electric vehicle rental service, commonly used in various cities in Europe, will be introduced for the first time in Turkey, starting in Konya.
In this project, two-seater Spark-branded electric vehicles will be introduced at attractive prices. The primary goal of the project is to familiarize people with electric vehicles and enable them to carry out their city transportation safely and efficiently.
Ismail Hakkı Karaca, who explained that they established 50 electric charging stations in Konya after obtaining a license from EPDK (Energy Market Regulatory Authority), stated, "While there is a high number of charging stations in Turkey, they are primarily concentrated on highways and in cities like Istanbul and Izmir. Unfortunately, many other cities lack such stations, negatively impacting the widespread adoption of electric vehicles in those areas. Consequently, we swiftly applied for and obtained the charging station network operator license from EPDK. This license obligates us to establish a minimum of 50 charging stations in any city in Turkey, according to our license terms. We have formulated our goals in line with this license. Our primary objective is the electrification of Konya. In line with our 2042 target, we have established all our stations in Konya with the aim of reducing emissions related to transportation in the city. All 50 of our stations have been put into operation in Konya and are operational."
