Konya Science Center

TÜBİTAK published its first official call to support the science centers to be established in Turkey in 2008. Following the evaluation of the applications, a support decision was taken for the project proposal of Konya Metropolitan Municipality. Thus, Konya undertook an important mission to establish the first science center supported by TÜBİTAK. Konya Chamber of Industry, Konya Organized Industrial Zone, Selcuk University, Provincial Directorate of National Education, Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, Konya Chamber of Commerce, Konya Commodity Exchange and KOSKI, which are among the leading institutions and organizations of Konya, have taken an active role in the establishment of the science center in order to share the burden of this historical responsibility. Thanks to this cooperation, Konya has developed an exemplary cooperation model for the survival of science centers, the continuity of which is at risk from time to time not only in Turkey but also all over the world. On a land of about 100,000 m2; Konya Science Center, which is a real center of attraction with its closed area of 26 250 m2, outdoor parking area of 14.000 m2 and vehicle paths, walking paths of 11.000 m2 and green area of 47.000 m2, encourages new generations to reach their goals by implementing an architectural design that is difficult to realize. The facility, which includes a wind power plant and solar panels, is an important example of green building built in Turkey. Konya Science Center; With its thematic exhibitions, open-air exhibitions, observation and observation tower, planetarium, conference rooms, laboratories and library, it will be a real science center for everyone. Konya Science Center, as an important milestone on the way to making Konya a center of science, will write its name in gold letters in history and will provide visitors of all ages with the opportunity to learn by introducing, doing and experiencing the smiling face of science with the principle of "Investment in people is the biggest investment". In order to support the formation of an information society where innovative, researcher and self-confident individuals are raised, to provide entertaining and interactive environments for visitors of all ages, to bring them together with science and technology, to arouse scientific curiosity and learning desire, to enable new ideas to be produced.
