Konya Metropolitan Municipality brings students together with science through activities organized at Konya Science Center during the semester break.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that they are organizing scientific and entertaining activities at Konya Science Center to help children and young people make the most of their break from the intense academic year.
Mayor Altay stated that students are having a great time with their families during the events and added, “At Konya Science Center, Turkey’s first and largest science center supported by TÜBİTAK, we organize various scientific activities throughout the year. For the semester break, we have prepared a range of exciting events for our students. As part of the ‘Sultans of Science Week,’ children had the opportunity to learn more about the inventors who made groundbreaking discoveries during the golden age of the Islamic world. Our visitors will also continue to learn while having fun through activities such as ‘Little Sailors and Vikings,’ the ‘Science Children's Library,’ and the ‘LEGO-Themed BrickZone Exhibition’ until February 2. I invite all students to spend quality time at our Science Center with their families.”
As part of the Sultans of Science Week, visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the inventors behind groundbreaking discoveries during the golden age of the Islamic world and experience their work through hands-on workshops.
At Konya Science Center, students are exploring marine life through models and crafting their own sailor hats as part of the Little Sailors and Vikings themed event. They experience the excitement of fishing with a toy rod and enjoy making their own shields, stepping into a world of imagination.
Through the LEGO-Themed BrickZone Exhibition, students build their creativity brick by brick in LEGO workshops, assembling different pieces while developing skills in design, engineering, and coding within the STEAM fields.
Participants also add color to their holiday with engaging activities at the Konya Science Center Library.
Students from Konya and other cities expressed their appreciation for the educational and engaging activities, saying they made the most of their semester break.
Thanking Mayor Altay for organizing the events, they also expressed their hope for similar programs to continue in the future.
