Turkey’s Largest Science Festival Opens for the 10th Time

Organized by Konya Metropolitan Municipality, the 10th Konya Science Festival will bring together science enthusiasts from August 21 to 24.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay emphasized that the Konya Science Center, Turkey’s first and largest science center supported by TÜBİTAK and established by the Metropolitan Municipality, continues its activities throughout the year to contribute to the “National Technology Initiative” announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Mayor Altay also noted that BilimFest will host national and international stakeholders, including leading figures from the business world, as well as Turkey’s major defense and science-technology organizations such as TÜBİTAK, TUSAŞ, ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, ROKETSAN, and BAYKAR. He added that products of the National Technology Initiative, such as national defense vehicles and unmanned aerial vehicles, will also be showcased for enthusiasts.

At BilimFest, participants will have the chance to actively engage in a scientific discovery process through interactive workshops in fields such as astronomy, chemistry, biology, design, engineering, physics, technology, geography, as well as in areas like the children’s play zone, mini construction site, DreamLab Lego, and SeraLab.

This year at BilimFest, a Digital Experience Zone will be introduced for the first time, featuring an immersive show under the theme “From Particle to Universe: A Fine-Tuned Universe!” Another new addition will be the “Light Exhibition,” where nighttime light, stage, and drone shows will add vibrancy to the festival.

Scientific and technological trucks from various institutions, an area featuring live animals from the zoo, and the “SeraLab” section, which showcases hydroponic farming systems and a tropical fruit garden, will also be available for visitors to explore.
