Two More Awards for Konya in Digital Transformation

Konya Metropolitan Municipality’s work in the field of Smart City continues to receive national recognition.

At the 16th eTR Digital Government Applications Awards, organized by the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) and the Turkey Informatics Foundation (TBV), Konya Metropolitan Municipality earned certificates of achievement for two of its major projects.

In the organization evaluating digital transformation projects of public institutions across Turkey, Konya Metropolitan Municipality stood out among numerous applications in various categories, achieving significant success with its “Accessible Konya” project and the “Konya Smart City Strategy and Roadmap 2030” initiative.

This year, the eTR Digital Government Applications Awards were held across a total of seven categories, including four main and three special categories. Konya Metropolitan Municipality received certificates of achievement in two categories: “Best Strategy” and “Impact on Citizen Satisfaction.”

Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that they are making every effort to make Konya a more livable and accessible city for everyone. He said, “Our municipality, which has been leading in Smart City initiatives in Turkey for the past five years, has implemented over 200 Smart City applications. We are very pleased that two of our major projects received awards this year at the eTR Digital Government Applications Awards, the most prestigious recognition in the field. I would like to thank all my team members who contributed to this process.”

The “Accessible Konya” project stands out for its digital solutions aimed at making urban services more accessible, particularly for individuals with disabilities and other disadvantaged citizens. Key features of the project include the digital presentation of accessibility data across the city and the development of guidance and information systems.

The “Konya Smart City Strategy and Roadmap 2030” initiative, which stands out as a key study highlighting Konya’s digital transformation vision, offers a comprehensive roadmap encompassing data-driven management, the expansion of smart city applications, environmental sustainability, and citizen-focused services.

A Smart City Strategy and Roadmap for Konya 2022–2030 has been prepared to guide the planning of smart city solutions specific to Konya. This roadmap outlines the city’s vision, strategy, strategic objectives, and proposed actions in the field of smart city development, providing direction for related initiatives.

This achievement, earned at the organization evaluating successful digitalization projects of public institutions, once again highlights Konya’s leading position in the field of smart city development.
