A Different World at the Tropical Butterfly Garden in Konya

A Different World at the Tropical Butterfly Garden in Konya

The Tropical Butterfly Garden in Konya offers visitors a unique experience with 20,000 butterflies from 40 different species.

Butterflies are often known as “scaled wings” because of the fine scales and patterns on their wings. Although they are commonly believed to live for only one day, many butterfly species can actually survive for several weeks.

People around the world admire butterflies for their bright colors and graceful movement. These delicate creatures symbolize freedom and wonder, while their life cycle continues to fascinate visitors. The process begins with the egg stage, moves on to the larval phase, then enters the pupa stage where the butterfly appears to be asleep, before completing its transformation.

Established by the Selcuklu Municipality, the Tropical Butterfly Garden presents a different world within Konya. The facility hosts 40 butterfly species and nearly 195 plant species in an environment maintained at 28 degrees Celsius with 80 percent humidity throughout the year, reflecting equatorial climate conditions.
