Konya has strengthened its position in black seed cultivation, a product widely used as a spice and for its oil in aromatherapy. Thanks to its unique aroma and health benefits, black seed has become an important agricultural product for the region.
Supported by the agricultural development incentives of the Konya Metropolitan Municipality, black seed cultivation is rapidly expanding. The main production area lies within the triangle of Kadınhanı, Sarayönü, and Cihanbeyli, where farmers achieved a highly productive season this year, harvesting approximately 310 tons of black seed. This yield has made a significant contribution to the national economy.
Highlighting that black seed cultivation thrives even in water-deficient areas, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay said, "We support waterless farming models in Konya. Black seed is entirely grown in water-scarce regions. I congratulate our producers who contributed around 310 tons this year, mainly in Kadınhanı, Sarayönü, and Cihanbeyli." Mayor Altay also shared images from the harvest in the Meydanlı neighborhood of Kadınhanı.
