Rainfall across the Konya Plain this year has significantly reduced irrigation costs for grain producers while supporting overall agricultural productivity in the region.
Officials stated that precipitation levels recorded this season have exceeded long term averages. The rainfall, which appeared as snow in higher elevations and rain across the plain particularly after the beginning of the year, has provided substantial support for grain production throughout the region.
The improved precipitation levels have eased pressure on water resources and reduced the need for intensive irrigation in agricultural areas. Authorities emphasized that irrigation costs for farmers engaged in irrigated farming have declined by nearly 80 percent compared to previous seasons.
Agricultural representatives noted that the favorable weather conditions have contributed positively to crop development, especially in wheat and barley fields across the Konya Plain, one of Türkiye’s most important agricultural production centers.
Experts also underlined that sufficient rainfall during critical growth stages plays a vital role in increasing yield quality and maintaining sustainable agricultural production. Producers in the region continue to monitor weather conditions closely as the harvest season approaches.
