Konya Independence War Martyrdom Museum

The Independence War Martyrdom Museum, located next to the martyrdom area between the Mevlana Museum and the Mevlana Cultural Center, presents the story of the Turkish War of Independence and the Gallipoli Campaign through detailed models and figures.

The Konya War of Independence Martyrs Memorial was built to commemorate the soldiers who lost their lives during the Gallipoli Campaign and the War of Independence. As Konya is one of the regions that suffered significant military losses, the memorial holds special importance and was constructed by the metropolitan municipality. The complex also includes a museum where visitors can explore the history of this great national struggle. Exhibits illustrate village life in Konya during the Gallipoli Campaign and the War of Independence, the Kocatepe Front, and post-war rural life through miniature models and figures. An automatic audio guide system is available to enhance the visitor experience.

Along the walkway leading to the museum, the flags of sixteen historical Turkish states are displayed. The entrance dome is considered an outstanding example of Seljuk-era stone craftsmanship. The main gate, featuring kündekari woodwork and stone decoration, opens into an entrance courtyard carefully designed by Uzbek artisans. In this courtyard, four mosaic panels depict significant scenes from the War of Independence.

The museum immerses visitors in the wartime period through visual installations, oil paintings, and sound systems, offering a powerful historical experience.

The museum is open on weekdays from 09:00 to 17:30.
